Facility Rules
- Children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Membership, pass or daily admission fees are required to use the facility.
- Firearms are prohibited.
- There shall be no drug or alcohol use on City property. Alcohol can only be consumed in the meeting/party rooms during an authorized special event.
- Be respectful of the building and avoid damaging the equipment and property.
- Profane language is strictly prohibited.
- Shirt and shoes are required at all times.
- The City is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Fitness Center Rules
- Before beginning a new fitness routine, The Timbers of Eureka encourages all participants to consult with their physician.
- Proper fitness attire is required at all times, which includes closed-toe athletic shoes (no sandals, work boots or slip-on shoes), shirts, proper shorts or sweat pants (no jeans, jean shorts, belts, pants with buttons, snaps, zippers or rivets).
- Due to the inherent risks involved in using fitness training equipment, you must be 16 years of age for all fitness training areas; this includes all weight training and cardiovascular equipment within these areas.
- Youth ages 11 - 15 (must have completed 5th grade) are eligible to use the Fitness Center after completion of the Youth Fitness Orientation (YFO).
- All cardio equipment limited to 30-minute increments.
- Machines should be wiped down after use.
- The use of chalk is prohibited.
- All fitness equipment must be returned to appropriate storage locations after use (i.e. weights must be re-racked).
- The City is not responsible for personal belongings. Please lock all personal belongings in a locker.
- See staff to change television stations.
- If weights, pulleys or other parts become jammed, users should not attempt to free them without staff assistance. Report the problem to staff.
- Dumbbells or other weights are not allowed on cardio equipment.
- No equipment is permitted for use in the hallway or gymnasium. All equipment must remain in the Fitness Center.
- Muddy, dirty or excessively wet shoes are not allowed in the Fitness Center.
- Dropping of weights is prohibited.
- Be Respectful - screaming, yelling, excessive grunting or use of profane language is prohibited.
- Please refrain from taking phone calls in the Fitness Center.
- Food and gum are not permitted; Drinks are permitted in closed containers.
- Cameras, photography equipment, video or cell phone cameras are prohibited in the Fitness Center, or on the grounds of The Timbers of Eureka, without the express permission of the Director of Parks and Recreation.
- Personal Trainers, not approved by The Timbers of Eureka, may not provide their services in the Fitness Center. Anyone participating in a personal training session not associated with a City of Eureka approved Personal Trainer may be ejected from the facility and have their membership revoked with no refund. Non-members and their Trainers may be ejected from the facility permanently.
- Failure to comply with any of the posted Fitness Center rules, Recreation Complex rules and/or other breaches of rules as deemed by Staff, may result in suspension and/or permanent ejection.
Gymnasium Rules
- Children 8 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- No dunking or hanging on rims or nets.
- No gum, food or drink except water in covered plastic containers.
- Use of profane language and/or fighting is strictly prohibited.
- Appropriate athletic attire including shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
- Gym or tennis shoes with non-marking soles are required at all times.
- No spitting.
- If you are involved in a pick-up game, please allow others to use the gym.
- No full court basketball games, unless approved by the Supervisor.
- No kicking balls. Balls must be used appropriately for their intended purpose.
- Basketball, volleyball and pickleball are the only sports allowed in the gymnasium. Other sports can hold conditioning practices without equipment.
- If you see anyone in the gym breaking the rules please let a supervisor or shift manager know.
- Be respectful - screaming, yelling, excessive grunting or use of profane language is prohibited.
- Dumbbells and other weights are not allowed on the gymnasium floor. All weights must be kept in the Fitness Center.
- If the gymnasium (half or whole) is rented, signs will be posted letting patrons know. Please be respectful of these rentals.
- Failure to comply with any of the posted Gymnasium rules, Recreation Complex rules and/or other breaches of rules as deemed by staff, may result in suspension and/or permanent ejection.
Tot Care Rules
- Ages allowed in the room are 12 weeks to 10 years old.
- The maximum visit is 2 hours.
- Parents will be asked to inform Tot Room staff where they will be in the building. Parents are allowed to run outside, but must remain within Coffey Park while their child is in the Tot Room.
- Tot care is free for members and $4.00 per child for non-members.
- The ratios for tot care is 1 staff member for every 4 children under the age of 2 years old and 1 staff member for every 8 children over the age of 2 years old. Participants may be turned away if the room has reached its maximum capacity.
- No food or drinks (with the exception of water) will be allowed in the Tot Room.
- Timbers staff do not change diapers or assist children in the restroom. Parents will be paged to the Tot Room if their child needs a diaper change, medication or if other issues arise.
- If a child becomes out of control or can’t be consoled after 15 minutes, the parent will be called.
- All children must be signed in and out and a health form needs to be on file for each child.
- If a child is physically hurt, staff will complete an incident report and will ask the parent to sign off on it at pick up.
- In the event of an emergency in which the facility needs to be evacuated, staff will take the children to the Coffey Park pavilion. In the event of a tornado, staff will bring the children to the women’s locker room.
- Staff may take older children into the gymnasium if staffing levels allow.
- Sick children or those who have been sick are not permitted in the Tot Room. It may be necessary to provide a physician’s verification of wellness prior to a child returning to the Tot Room.
- The tot room is open Mondays - Fridays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Mondays - Thursdays from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tot room is closed on Sundays. The Timbers of Eureka reserves the right to change the hours of operation as necessary.
Tot Care Sick Policy
Parents, please understand that we strive to provide a healthy environment for all children and staff. The following list includes, but is not limited to, some of the signs, symptoms and behaviors that may result in your child’s exclusion from the Tot Room. Please be mindful of these things when deciding whether or not to bring your child to the Tot Room.
- A child with a reportable illness that a physician determines has not had sufficient treatments to reduce risk to others.
- A child who has had a fever of 99 degrees Fahrenheit or higher within the last 24 hours.
- A child who has vomited within the last 24 hours.
- A child who has had diarrhea/loose stool within the last 24 hours.
- A child who has had a bacterial infection such as strep throat and has not completed 24 hours of antibiotics.
- A child who has an undiagnosed rash or a rash attributable to a contagious illness or infection.
- A child with chicken pox or similar sores, until the child is no longer infections and the sores are all gone.
- A child with contagious conjunctivitis (pink eye) or discolored drainage form the eye.
- A child has lice, ringworm, scabies, etc. that is untreated and contagious to others.
- A child who has significant respiratory distress (bad cough), and/or a profusely runny nose, with either green or clear mucus.
- A child with unexplained lethargy or who is not able to participate in Tot Room activities within reasonable comfort.
It may be necessary to provide a physician’s verification or wellness prior to a child being permitted to return to the Tot room.
Sauna Rules
- When using the sauna, allow enough time to relax completely and to fully hydrate before and after use.
- Shower before entering, wear appropriate attire, remove all jewelry and shoes and use a clean towel to sit on. Glasses and contact lenses should not be work in the sauna.
- Patrons under the age of 18 are not permitted to use the sauna.
- Pregnant women, persons using prescription medications and individuals suffering from high blood pressure, circulation problems or a heart condition must consult with a physician before using the sauna. If you feel dizzy or light-headed leave the room immediately.
- Please keep all flammable materials away from sauna rocks. All adjustments of the sauna equipment can be performed only by personnel.
- Do not lay down in the sauna.
- Food and drinks are not allowed in the sauna room. This is a smoke-free facility.
- Maximum amount of time allowed in the sauna is 30 minutes per day.
- Maximum number of people may not exceed 12.
Pool Rules
- All facility users must obey the lifeguards.
- Adults are expected to directly supervise children in their care.
- Children ages 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- Diving is permitted from the diving board only.
- Breath-holding and/or prolonged underwater swimming is strictly prohibited.
- Facility users are expected to walk on the pool deck. Running is strictly prohibited.
- Any person with a skin rash is not allowed to enter the facility.
- Pushing, dunking and other types of horseplay is strictly prohibited.
- No fighting of any kind is allowed. Individuals involved in an altercation will be dismissed from the facility for the remainder of the summer.
- Hanging or sitting on any lane line or rope is strictly prohibited.
- Outside food and beverages are not permitted, with the exception of water in clear plastic containers. Food and beverages purchased from the concession stand must remain in the concession area. Chewing gum is not permitted in the facility.
- Only Coast Guard approved flotation devices will be allowed. Inflatable flotation devices, rafts, mermaid tales and hard throwing balls are prohibited.
- Staff reserves the right to remove any item from the pool for the safety of other guests.
- Do not climb on the ledge of the infinity wall. Do not enter the lazy river from the side.
- Patrons are encouraged to bathe with soap and water before entering the pool and all swimmers must wear a swimsuit into the water.
- T-shirts may be worn in the pool. They must be clean, not cutoff or torn, and any language or symbols must be able to withstand public scrutiny. Persons wearing t-shirts must stay in the shallow end of the pool. Shoes (with the exception of water shoes) are not allowed in the pool.
- Swim diapers must be worn at all times for children who are not potty trained.
- At any time, a lifeguard or aquatic staff member may add or enforce additional rules not set forth herein in the event activities perceived to be harmful or potentially harmful to any person or property require the creation of such rules.
- The City of Eureka reserves the right to modify these rules at any time to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
Pool Inclement Weather Policy
- Timbers supervisory staff may delay opening of the pool or close early due to dangerous weather conditions, low attendance, rain, or air temperatures below 70 degrees.
- The pool will close for 30 minutes each time thunder and/or lightning occurs.
- Rain checks will be issued if operations are suspended for 60 minutes or more. Guests can exchange their receipt for a rain check should they choose to leave the facility. Rain checks will be valid for two weeks after the initial visit. If a raincheck is issued and the pool reopens, guests will be required to return the rain check to gain admission back into the facility that day. No rain checks will be issued during the final two hours of operations.
- Guests can also request a wristband to come back in the same day.
- Refunds will not be issued.
Pool Rules – Slide
- Maximum operational load: 1 person, 300 pounds
- Children under 40 inches tall are not permitted on the slide.
- Eyeglasses must be securely affixed to riders with head straps.
- Swim wear with exposed zippers, buckles, rivets or metal ornamentations are not permitted.
- Only one rider to enter the flume at a time. Single riders only.
- Never form chains.
- Slide must be ridden feet first lying on your back or in a sitting position.
- Riders must wait for the attendant's start signal before entering the slide.
- Keep arms and hands inside the flume at all times.
- Do not run, dive, stand, kneel, rotate or stop on the slide.
- At the end of the slide, obey all instructions by lifeguard and exit quickly.
- Caution: For safety reasons, pregnant women and persons with heart conditions or back trouble should not ride the slide.
Pool Rules - Diving Board
- Use of the diving board is limited to swimmers able to swim one length of the pool without stopping or struggling.
- Only one person is permitted on the board at a time.
- Dives must be executed straight off the board; inward and reverse dives are not allowed.
- Cartwheels, handstands and seat drops are considered dangerous and are not allowed.
- Only one bounce is permitted on the board.
- Swimming in the diving area is not allowed while the diving board is open.
- A diver must immediately swim to the ladder or under the rope once they have entered the water.
- The next diver may not dive until the first diver has touched the ladder or passed the rope.
- Parents supervising their child’s dive may sit on the side of the pool in the diving area.
- No goggles.
- No floatation device, unless strapped under their body.
- No catching anyone in the water.
- The lifeguard has the right to prohibit any dive that seems too dangerous for the diver to perform.
- Staff has the right to close down the diving board at any time to allow for open swim in the deep end of the pool.
