Parks & Recreation

The Parks and Recreation Department has grown rapidly over the past few years, having accomplished many things with many more projects ahead. The Department currently oversees and maintains over 164 acres of park and public land, which includes nine parks, featuring trails, playgrounds, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball and handball courts, baseball, football and soccer fields, a stocked lake, Disc golf course and a Community Center.

Construction has begun on our largest and most expensive project to date:  The Eureka Recreation Center, “The Timbers“.  The Timbers will open in late summer of 2013.  The nearly 30,000 square foot facility will contain many great amenities including:

  • Fitness Center with cardio and strength equipment
  • Group Exercise Room
  • Locker Rooms with Saunas
  • Full-size Gymnasium
  • Two Meeting Rooms that can be combined into one larger room
  • Tot Care Room
  • Outdoor Pool with diving board, lap swimming lanes, leisure pool with beachfront entry, waterfall, current channel and slide
  • Concession Stand
  • Wet Party Room

The new center is located on the east side of Highway 109 just south of I-44. Membership and program rates will be avialble soon.

While the Department has certainly been fortunate, much of what has been developed and is planned for the future has been made possible by the support of the Eureka Citizens, Citizen Committees, and Elected Officials. On behalf of the Parks and Recreation Staff, thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Missy Bundren
