The Parks and Recreation Department has grown rapidly over the past few years, having accomplished many things with many more projects ahead. The Department currently oversees and maintains over 164 acres of park and public land, which includes nine parks, featuring trails, playgrounds, tennis, basketball, sand volleyball and handball courts, baseball, football and soccer fields, a stocked lake, Disc golf course and a Community Center. In 2012 we will begin construction on our largest and most expensive project to date: The Eureka Recreation Center. Although still being developed, the Center will serve as the indoor/outdoor recreation hub for the community.
While the Department has certainly been fortunate, much of what has been developed and is planned for the future has been made possible by the support of the Eureka Citizens, Citizen Committees, and Elected Officials.
